The number of people making an international trip was unsurprisingly down from 2020 – 2021 with the ongoing coronavirus COVID-19 global pandemic crisis. Travel restrictions and social distancing measures implemented to prevent the catastrophic spread of the coronavirus have worked well, but their full consequences when it comes to economic and social impacts have yet to be fully understood.
For many people the prospect of travelling during this global pandemic may seem extremely unwise and even dangerous. However, the need for international travel can be the result of important business that needs to be done in person, or to be reunited with loved ones, not just a desire to go on holiday. With that in mind as the pandemic eases more people are looking to go on holiday than ever before! With that in mind we take a look at a few tips for travellers during this pandemic.
- Check the status of your destination
It’s important to make sure you’re aware of the virus situation in the area you’re planning to travel to. Make sure to stay informed in case a sudden spike in numbers arises and affects your travel plans.
- Get vaccinated
If possible, make sure to get vaccinated before you travel. This can help ease any fears you might have in terms of actually contracting the virus and keep your health protected in the long run.
- Get tested
Most travellers will be required to show a valid negative covid test before travelling so make sure you’ve got yours ready. Don’t forget tests are only valid for a certain time period after they’re conducted so check the dates on yours. You don’t want to show up at the airport only to have to go home again!
- Gear up!
There are lots of ways to actually protect your physical body when travelling. Make sure to stock up on plenty of face masks, hand sanitizer, face screens, gloves, disinfectant spray and such items before you travel!
